Royals | Mike Sweeney debating options

Free-agent 1B Mike Sweeney (Phillies) was in Kansas City Saturday, Jan. 22, for a Royals awards ceremony, and Sweeney told MLB.com's Dick Kaegel he is debating whether to return for a 17th season. Three teams are reportedly interested in Sweeney, who has expressed he will only play for a contender. If he retires, it is expected he would join the Royals in an unnamed role.
