MLB | Trevor Hoffman calls it quits

Free-agent RP Trevor Hoffman (Brewers) announced his retirement from baseball Tuesday, Jan. 11, according to MLB.com's Barry M. Bloom. Hoffman finishes his career with an all-time record with 601 regular-season saves. He will return to the San Diego Padres in a front-office role. "It's time to retire. It's time to move on," Hoffman said. "This is more of a self-evaluation. I expect to pitch at a certain level and I had to be honest with myself that I wasn't certain I could maintain that anymore."
