Titans | Team Notes

The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans DT Josh Evans, if he is reinstated by the league, will have his 2000 contract shifted to 2001. That means he will not be an unrestricted free agent until after the 2001 season. The Titans are in very good shape on the interior defensive line and Evans would bring a big salary-cap number ($1.65 million) if the team brings him back. The team would like to restructure the hefty cap number of OT Brad Hopkins ($7.132 million). Mark Bartelstein, Hopkins’ agent, said there’s been only minor talk so far but that he is willing to redo the deal. Titans OL Bruce Matthews recently had successful elbow surgery, coach Jeff Fisher said. The Titans priority list for re-signing their own free agents appears to be: WR Derrick Mason, CB Denard Walker and then DE Kenny Holmes.
