Twins | Jim Hoey to compete for bullpen spot
Minnesota Twins RP Jim Hoey, whose fastball sits in the mid-to-upper 90s, could become a valuable cog in the team's bullpen next season, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune's La Velle E. Neal III. "I feel like I'm 100 percent back to where I was in '06," said Hoey, who also throws a split-finger fastball and occasional slider. P Brett Jacobson, the other pitcher the team acquired from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for SS J.J. Hardy, could start the season at Double-A New Britain. Jacobson went 8-1 with a 2.79 ERA in 34 games with Single-A Frederick last year.
