Vikings | Brad Childress doesn't need a hug
Following the Minnesota Vikings Week 9 win over the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Brad Childress was asked if he wanted any assurances from owner Zygi Wilf about keeping his job the remainder of the season, reports The Associated Press. "No, I'm not going to stand here like Brett Favre and tell you, compassionate, I need a hug," Childress said. "I'm all right." Childress was joking in his response, although it may not have come across that way during the press conference. Earlier in the week, Favre was asked if he thought Childress was a "compassionate" coach and responded with: "Is he compassionate as in give us a hug or something? Boy, I sure could use one, too. But he hasn't given me one." Both Favre and Childress have acknowledged they don't always see eye-to-eye on the team's game plan, play calling or direction of the offense. Wilf would not address Childress' job security before or after their Week 9 game, but he was happy with the team's victory over Arizona.
