Seahawks | Didn't seek out trading partner for Deion Branch
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said the Seahawks didn't seek out a trading partner for WR Deion Branch but rather the New England Patriots' interest in him combined with the arrival of WR Brandon Stokley helped convince them to trade Branch. "Without Brandon Stokley coming in here, we never would have thought about it," Carroll said. "Stoke came in here and showed his ability right off the bat. Really, the background he had with Jeremy Bates, and then his ability to come out here and prove it to us that he was ready to take over that role, really made it an opportunity for us." Carroll also said New England approached acquiring Branch aggressively.
