Padres | Tony Gwynn has parotid cancer
Former San Diego Padres OF Tony Gwynn will begin undergoing treatments soon for parotid cancer, according to Bill Center of The San Diego Union-Tribune. The cancer was first noticed last month and doctors feel it was discovered early enough where it can be treated. Gwynn is scheduled to have radiation treatments five times a week and weekly chemotherapy treatments for seven to eight weeks. He believes the cancer may be related to his use of chewing tobacco throughout his career. The 50-year-old Gwynn plans to continue serving as head coach of San Diego State University, his alma mater.
