Broncos | Laurence Maroney acquired
The Denver Broncos have acquired RB Laurence Maroney from the New England Patriots, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. It is not yet known what the Broncos gave up for Maroney.
Fantasy Tip: Last year Correll Buckhalter, 31, was better than Knowshon Moreno on a per-touch basis, and he knows Denver's offense well, but he isn't a long-term answer as a backup. Denver had no depth at RB, but the Pats did. Maroney had the best combo of trade value and usefulness to the Patriots. He didn't stand out when he played for Josh McDaniels in New England, so don't expect that to change in the Mile High City. He has the change-of-scenery, wakeup-call thing and familiarity going for him, though, meaning he could be worthy of an RB5 spot and is probably a better long-term handcuff to Moreno. He could also eventually take over the complementary role that Buck has served in.
