Indians | Many options for third base

The Cleveland Indians have many options at third base for next year, which was part of the reason general manager Mark Shapiro traded away 3B Jhonny Peralta Wednesday, July 28, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Dennis Manoloff. "This was not really a money-motivated deal," Shapiro said. "This is more about a combination of a projectable arm we're getting back and the reality that we wanted to take a look at some of our internal third-base alternatives for next year, because we think they can help us this year and next year." The current options at third base include 2B Luis Valbuena, 3B Andy Marte and 2B Jayson Nix. Marte played third Wednesday, and 3B Jared Goedert will also see some looks at some point.
