New England Patriots WR Wes Welker (knee, shoulder) appears to be making great gains in his recovery from offseason surgeries, reports Kevin McNamara, of The Providence Journal. If he is not ready for Week 1, the team will turn to WRs Julian Edelman and Torry Holt to help fill the void.
