Hendrick | Aric Almirola to back up Jimmie Johnson

Free-agent driver Aric Almirola (Phoenix Racing) will serve as Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson's backup driver at the next five Sprint Cup races in case Johnson's wife goes into labor, according to ESPN.com's David Newton. The most probable time of delivery is the open week after the July 10 race at Chicagoland Speedway. If the baby is born on a race day, the plan is for Johnson to run at least one lap to get points and then let Almirola take over.
