Saints | Reasons Barry Cofield deal fell through
The New Orleans Saints were prepared to trade their 2010 second-round draft pick, No. 64 overall, to the New York Giants for DL Barry Cofield during the NFL Draft, according to Mike Garafolo, of The Star-Ledger. The teams worked out the trade before the Giants selected DL Linval Joseph at No. 46 overall, an interesting revelation because many assumed Cofield became expendable after the Giants added Joseph. However, the talks fell apart because the Saints could not work out a long-term deal with Cofield, who had one year remaining on his current deal.
