Raiders | Team Notes

The San Jose Mercury News reports the Oakland Raiders were impressed with WR Jerry Rice, who worked out with them during Tuesday's mini-camp action. QB Rich Gannon stated he's happy to have a new toy in the offense and he's looking forward to having Rice playing opposite of Tim Brown this year. Rice will be spending time learning the new terminology and working as the split-end rather than the typical flanker position he played most of his career. Brown, by the way, is skipping out of the team's current voluntary mini-camp. Brown isn't the only veteran not taking part as OL Steve Wisniewski and CB Eric Allen also are not taking part right now. Head coach Jon Gruden wasn't willing to speculate on the future of WR Andre Rison, who is currently a free agent.
