Mariners | Byrnes signed

MLB.com's Doug Miller reports that the Seattle Mariners have signed free-agent OF Eric Byrnes to a one-year contract worth $400,000. He is expected to split time in left field with Milton Bradley and Ryan Langerhans, and serve as a backup to Franklin Gutierrez in center field and Ichiro Suzuki in right field. Byrnes is projected to be used near the top of the batting order or in the No. 9 spot, ahead of Suzuki, on days when he is in the lineup.
