MLB | Bacsik did not groove pitch to Bonds

Bill Ladson, of, reports former Washington Nationals SP Mike Bacsik said he did not purposefully give up former OF Barry Bonds' record-breaking 756th home run Aug. 7 of 2007. Colorado Rockies SP Tim Redding, Bacsik's former teammate with the Nationals, said he felt Bascik meant to groove the pitch to Bonds in order to receive publicity and make money. "Obviously, I didn't try to give it up," Bacsik said. "It was a 3-2 pitch, and the pitch before I threw a curveball that was just foul. Did I throw the ball good that night? No, but to say I tried to give up the home run I don't think is very smart. I was fighting for my life in the big leagues. I thought I might get sent down."
