Rangers | Cooper considering playing football
The Gainesville Sun's Edward Aschoff reports that Texas Rangers OF Riley Cooper, the team's 26th-round draft pick, has not heard from any club representatives since the draft and is uncertain of his status within the organization. "I must not mean that much to them," Cooper said. "Hopefully they contact me. I'm not going to contact them. I'm waiting, Texas." According to the Palm Beach Post's Ben Volin, Cooper was paid a $250,000 signing bonus by the Rangers and made a deal with the club to finish his senior season at the University of Florida as a wide receiver. Cooper, who appears to be leaning toward playing football in the long run, is expected to show up at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis next month, before reporting to the Rangers on March 1.
