Saints | Limited Plans

The Times Picayune reports because of the limited funds, Saints GM Randy Mueller and coach Jim Haslett said the Saints' free agent haul this season will be limited to "two or three players" at best. For the Saints that's OK because they could have close to 20 starters returning from last year's team. They already have 17 of the 22 players who started last year's opener under contract. Three more are due back from injuries. "We don't have any 'have-to's' this year," Saints Mueller said. The team has to make some moves to get under the cap. As previously reported, WR Jake Reed and TE Andrew Glover will be released. LB Mark Fields may join them as ex-Saints too. The Saints top The top priorities are re-signing LB Darrin Smith, CB Kevin Mathis, WR Willie Jackson and S Darren Perry.
