49ers | Balmer placed on IR

Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers DL Kentwan Balmer (shoulder) has been placed on Injured Reserve, ending his 2009 season. He underwent season-ending surgery Wednesday, Dec. 9, to repair a torn labrum. He will probably not take part in much, if any, of the team's offseason program.
