Vikings | Running Game Needs A Lift | CB To Start?

The Star Tribune reports as the Minnesota Vikings prepare for their first playoff game next week, they need a lift from their stagnant running game. RB Robert Smith rushed for 122, 117, 103, 148 and 115 yards in five consecutive games in November. Since then, he has suffered from loose particles in his right knee and has rushed for 67, 26 and 37 yards in three losses that cost the Vikings the first seed in the NFC playoffs. The offensive line has taken some responsibility for the struggling running game as well. During the three game stretch, Smith's receiving totals have dropped as well. Offensive coordinator Sherman Lewis said he the running game is a big key to the team's success. All indications are that Wasswa Serwanga will continue to start ahead of Kenny Wright at cornerback in the playoffs.
