Bears | L. Louis charged with assault

Brad Biggs, of the National Football Post, reports Chicago Bears OL Lance Louis has been charged with misdemeanor assault as authorities claim he attacked teammate Nick Sandford last year at San Diego State University. Sandford's father, Paul Sandford, can't believe it wasn't a felony. Paul Sandford said, "We really don't have any reason to see why this isn't a felony. They've done what they've done in terms if what they have charged him with and we're not the district attorney or the city attorney so there's not much we can do about it." Nick Sandford suffered a fractured cheekbone, concussion and broken eardrum after Louis allegedly attacked him from behind as he sat watching film in a team meeting room. Sandford reportedly incited him earlier in the day by poking Louis from behind with a stick in the locker room. An arraignment will be held Oct. 23, but Louis is not required to attend.
