Dolphins | McDuffie Asked to Take Pay Cut
The Miami Herald reports the Miami Dolphins have reportedly requested WR O.J. McDuffie to take a pay cut. According to two NFL sources, the Dolphins want to cut McDuffie's $2.9 million salary cap figure by lowering his base salary. His agent has previously said he will not accept a pay cut for McDuffie. Reportedly, coach Dave Wannstedt recently met with McDuffie about the pay cut and Dolphins negotiators have explained it to agent Joel Segal. A source said Segal presented the team with a counter-proposal. At this point the team has not threatened McDuffie with his release. The Dolphins reportedly are worried about a potential injury grievance being filed by McDuffie. In 1999 he played on an injured toe, which he found out later made it worse and could have been career threatening despite being diagnosed by a team doctor as not career-threatening.
