Chiefs | Looking At the Cap
Rick Dean reports for the Capital Journal the Kansas City Chiefs continue to look for ways to reduce their salary cap overrun. Reportedly WR Derrick Alexander has restructured the final two years of his contract, saving the Chiefs some $2 million against the cap. He accepted a large amount of upfront money to sign a new deal that probably will reduce his base salary to the NFL veteran's minimum of $484,000. The Chiefs will either release or restructure RB Donnell Bennett, DB Carlton Gray and RB Kimble Anders. Decisions on CB James Hasty ($6.6 million) and DL Chester McGlockton ($8 million) and Dan Williams are tougher because of signing bonus issues. The also need to decide whether to chase a free agent RB like Charlie Garner or to try and trade for Ricky Watters.
