Chiefs | Beuerlein Second Try In KC

The Kansas City Star reports eight years after being rejected by the Kansas City Chiefs, former Panthers QB Steve Beuerlein is out to prove he can be their starting QB for the 2001 season. Eight years ago, rather than sign free Beuerlein the Chiefs traded for a QB named Joe Montana. Beuerlein wants to start, and the only starting QB job remaining is with the Chiefs. "It's my last chance to be a starting quarterback on a team that I think can do some good things," Beuerlein said at the start of his two-day visit to Kansas City. Trent Green of St. Louis and free agent Trent Dilfer are the main threats to Beurelein. As previously reported, Beuerlein needs to make his case without throwing a football.
