Tigers | Porcello tossed

Jimmy Golen, of The Associated Press, reports Detroit Tigers SP Rick Porcello beaned Boston Red Sox 3B Kevin Youkilis in the back in the second inning of the teams' game Tuesday, Aug. 11. Youkilis charged the mound, throwing his helmet at and tackling Porcello; Youkilis missed with the helmet. The incident cleared both bullpens and benches, but reportedly, no punches were thrown. Both players were ejected. Trouble may have been brewing because Porcello, in the first inning, threw inside against Red Sox 1B Victor Martinez, who aggressively took a few steps in Porcello's direction afterward. Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera was beaned earlier in the contest as well as in the fourth inning of the first game of these teams' series, Monday, Aug. 10. Youkilis was beaned in the bottom half of the same frame, and in the eighth, Detroit 3B Brandon Inge was drilled. Detroit P Chris Lambert relieved Porcello in Tuesday's contest.
