49ers | J. Smith to play at right defensive end

Matt Maiocco, of The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers DL Justin Smith will line up at right defensive end in the team's 3-4 scheme this season. Last season, the team moved Smith around the field. "I'm definitely more comfortable and you know exactly what position you are going to be playing and we know exactly what kind of defense we are going to be playing," Smith said. "We are going to be playing a 3-4 pretty much - just go out there and get them. We are planning on our guys being better than their guys most of the time." Smith will still line up at defensive tackle on third downs this season, but he will exclusively play right defensive end in the team's base defense.
