Mets | Shields selected

MLB.com's Tim Britton reports the New York Mets selected SS Robert Shields from Florida Southern in the third round of the First-Year Player Draft. Shields hit .345 with five homers and 37 RBIs as a junior. Shields will likely start the season in Brooklyn with the Cyclones of the New York-Penn League.
