Packers | Line Shuffling

The Journal Sentinel reports it looks almost certain the Green Bay Packers will not have the same starting offensive line in 2001 as they did in 2000. The team is reportedly $4 million to $5 million over the 2001 salary cap and they have said they probably won't re-sign OL Ross Verba, who is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on March 2. Earl Dotson's injured back and salary cap number leaves him as a question mark as well for 2001. OC Frank Winters could be a cap casualty as well, but he has stated he wants to be back in Green Bay next season. Youngsters Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher played well last season and should be able to step in again this season if any of the above players do leave.
