Lions | Tough Competition For No. 2
Curt Sylvester reports for the Free Press the Detroit Lions expect a spirited competition for the team's No. 2 RB slot. The candidates are Amp Lee, Lamont Warren, Reuben Droughns and Sedrick Irvin. After spending last season in the doghouse, Irvin is now enjoying a fresh start with a new staff. "It's a great opportunity for me," Irvin said Friday, the first day of full-squad workouts. Sedrick is right in the ballpark as far as our running back situation," said coach Marty Mornhinweg. Irvin likes the team's new West Coast offense, which includes a lot of passes to running backs.
