Yankees | Team transfers dirt from home plate, mound to new home
The Associated Press reports that the New York Yankees held a ceremony Saturday, Nov. 8, which involved the transfer of dirt from home plate and the pitcher's mound, along with home plate itself and the pitcher's rubber, from the old Yankee Stadium to their new home across the street. Former Yankees David Cone, Paul O'Neill, Jeff Nelson and Scott Brosius were on hand to assist construction workers and several dozen Bronx High School students in moving the items.
