Broncos | Win 31-24 Over New Orleans
The Associated Press reports the Denver Broncos defeated the New Orleans Saints 31-24 Saturday night in the opening of Invesco Field at Mile High. RB Terrell Davis ran for 34 yards on 11 carries in his first game in nine months. Backup RBs Olandis Gary and Mike Anderson combined for 121 yards rushing. QB Brian Griese was impressive, throwing for 228 yards and three TDs in less than three quarters. Two of the TDs went to Ed McCaffrey, one a 58-yard TD. Rookie Kevin Kasper took a step backward as the Broncos punt returner as he fumbled two punts. Rookie P Nick Harris also had a difficult night in his bid to win Denver's punting job. Harris, battling veteran Tom Rouen, averaged 34 yards on three punts.
