Browns | Looking Ahead

Jeff Schudel reports for the News-Herald Cleveland Browns director of football operations Dwight Clark and current coach Chris Palmer have begun to look at the team's needs for the 2001 season. They would like to get bigger on the offensive line and defensive line and find someone better than Errict Rhett to carry the ball, although Palmer keeps saying he likes Rhett. The Browns are looking for guys that can cause an immediate positive impact to the team. The Browns have about $10 million to spend on free agency. RB Corey Dillon is expected to be a target if the Bengals don't re-sign him. As reported earlier the Browns pick third in the upcoming NFL draft and if Clark gets his wish, he will not stay in that third slot. The Seattle Seahawks pick seventh and 10th in the first round and are the only team with multiple first-round picks, as of today.
