Dodgers | Sturtze cut then told to stay
The Los Angeles Times' Bill Shaikin reports Los Angeles Dodgers RP Tanyon Sturtze sat at his locker Wednesday, Aug. 27, packing his bags and shaking hands with teammates after manager Joe Torre said the team cut him. However, Torre talked to him a few minutes later and told Sturtze the team wouldn't cut him Wednesday. The Dodgers initially told Sturtze they would designate him for assignment to clear a roster spot for RP Cory Wade (shoulder). After a few minutes, they changed their minds.
