Bills | Still Working the Cap

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle's Leo Roth reports the Buffalo Bills are still working on hammering out new cap-friendly contracts with several players. DE Phil Hansen is in the process of reworking his contract in order to remain with the team. The Bills have asked Hansen to cut his $3 million base salary in half. Doing so would allow them to lower his $4.5 million cap figure without adding extra years to his deal. The on-again, off-again contract restructure by OC Jerry Ostroski may be on again. He reportedly has agreed to a $250,000 pay cut. It would save the Bills about $760,000 but add another year to his contract (through 2003). The Bills have finalized a re-structured deal for NT Pat Williams that will save another $800,000 and they are close to a new deal with LB John Holecek.
