Mets | Prospect Martinez could be a fast mover up the ranks

The New York Daily News' Eric Faynberg reports New York Mets prospect SP Pedro P. Martinez, who has four pitches in his arsenal, could move up quickly through the team's minor league system. He is currently pitching for the Class A Brooklyn Cyclones, where he has a 2.39 ERA in five games. The 22-year-old right-hander stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 191 pounds. "Pedro has what we call a projectable body," said Cyclones pitching coach Hector Berrios. "Guys like him, they can fill out and sometimes gain four or five miles on their fastball. It helps that he's very athletic. I think this kid is something special in the future." He is no relation to veteran Mets SP Pedro Martinez.
