Falcons | J. Williams may have fit well in defensive scheme
Bucky Brooks, of SportsIllustrated.com, reports free-agent CB Jimmy F. Williams (Falcons) may have fit well into head coach Mike Smith's defensive scheme. An AFC Scout, who scouted Williams in college, said Williams is a press or Cover 2 cornerback but was never used as one. "They asked him to do things that were never his strengths, and the move to safety was bound to fail because he never possessed the intangibles to handle the responsibilities associated with being the leader in the secondary. He is not capable of making calls and setting the defense -- that's too much information for him to process." Williams would have likely had less responsibilities in Smith's Cover 2 defense.
