Padres | Tavarez signs

Padres.MLB.com's Corey Brock reports the San Diego Padres signed 16-year-old, right-handed P Elvin Tavarez (Dominican Republic), who according to ESPN.com, is the 10th-best Latino prospect, to an undisclosed deal. "Elvin is a well-built right-hander with a fastball that reaches 90 (mph) and good rotation on his curve ball." Padres director of international scouting Randy Smith said.
