Padres.MLB.com's Corey Brock reports the San Diego Padres signed 16-year-old SS Alvaro Aristy (Dominican Republic), who according to ESPN.com, is the sixth-best Latino prospect, to an undisclosed deal. "We see Alvaro as the best pure shortstop in Latin America, both with his defensive ability along with his consistency at the plate," Padres director of international scouting Randy Smith said.
