NFL | Ditka and Sayers to announce plan for retired players

The Associated Press reports NFL Hall of Famers Mike Ditka and Gale Sayers are scheduled to announce a plan for doctors to donate medical care to retired NFL players. Their initiative calls for surgeons to evaluate and if necessary operate on the retired players. The union and the NFL have defended the disability system for retired players.
