Angels | Speedy Haynes vying for bench spot's Lyle Spencer reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Nathan Haynes, who is trying to earn a spot as a reserve outfielder, helped out offensively and defensively in a Cactus League game Tuesday, March 11. He had an RBI single in the first inning, then made a diving catch in right field in the third inning to save a run. "He's got more speed than I've ever seen," said Angels SP Jered Weaver. "He gets to the ball quick." Haynes, who has 254 steals in 11 minor league seasons, garnered 45 at-bats in 40 games with the Angels last year.
