Redskins | Coaching search could extend for weeks

Jason La Canfora and Jason Reid, of the Washington Post, report the Washington Redskins are likely to take several more weeks to name a new head coach. Jim Fassel, who was expecting an offer from the team this week, is still a strong candidate for the job, according to a source close to Fassel. However, the Redskins may be extending their search until after the Super Bowl to interview potential candidates such as Josh McDaniels of the New England Patriots or Steve Spagnuolo of the New York Giants. Former head coach Joe Gibbs has already called his former assistants still under contract with the Redskins to inform them of the expected delay in hiring a new head coach.
