Orioles | Club releases Mazzone from contract

The Associated Press reports the Baltimore Orioles have released pitching coach Leo Mazzone from his contract. "Moving forward, I felt that we would be better served with someone else working with our young staff and that it was in his best interests and our best interests to give him an opportunity to look elsewhere now," Orioles manager Dave Trembley said. The Orioles will still be responsible for Mazzone's $500,000 salary this season; Mazzone had one year remaining on his contract from a three-year contract signed before the 2006 season.
