MLB | Ripken named United States special sports envoy

Jeff Barker, of the Baltimore Sun, reports former Baltimore Orioles SS Cal Ripken Jr. has been named a special sports envoy for the United States by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. Ripken will act as a goodwill ambassador representing the United States and will work to spread baseball globally.
