MLB | Associated Press seeking names of players listed on drug search warrant
The Associated Press' Paul Elias reports the Associated Press filed court papers Thursday, July 19, seeking the names of players listed on a search warrant for former Arizona Diamondbacks P Jason Grimsley's home. The papers argued that the public, Major League Baseball players and the league would all benefit if the names were revealed. Grimsley's home in Arizona was raided last year after investigators intercepted a shipment of human growth hormone (HGH), and the publicly released search warrants had several other players' names blacked out. However, federal prosecutors are opposed to releasing the names, as they argued in papers filed last week that doing so would jeopardize an ongoing investigation. Additionally, the Major League Baseball Players Association has filed papers opposing the release of names.
