Steelers | Faneca hoped team would hire Grimm as head coach

The Pioneer Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers OG Alan Faneca hoped the team would hire former offensive line coach Russ Grimm after head coach Bill Cowher retired. The team decided to hire Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin and allowed Grimm to leave for the Arizona Cardinals, where he is an assistant head coach. "I wanted Russ to get the job," Faneca said. "It's a guy we know, and a guy I'm experienced with. I hoped Russ would get that opportunity, but it didn't work out. When Cowher retired, everybody in the league wanted two of our guys, so you'd think we would want at least one of them."
