Chargers | Kiel's legal troubles tied to gambling
Brent Schrotenboer, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers SS Terrence Kiel's recent legal troubles, including his involvement in the shipping of codeine-based cough syrup that got him arrested, are believed to be as a result of frequent gambling losses at casinos which led Kiel to seek other means of income, according to law enforcement authorities. Officials were told in their investigation that gambling is "exactly what caused the problem, that he was in over his head because he gambles too much," San Diego Deputy District Attorney Damon Mosler said. Kiel is due in court Wednesday, Feb. 7, for a trial readiness hearing on five felony charges related to the cough syrup incident.
