Buccaneers | Winborn could opt out of contract
Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Jamie Winborn could decide to opt out of his current contract and become an unrestricted free agent in March. "Right now I'm just waiting to see if Tampa Bay wants to do a longer term deal as opposed to me buying out of the deal and exploring the market," Winborn told PewterReport.com. "I really like Tampa and that's pretty much where I'd like to be. I'm just trying to give it a little more time to see what happens." Winborn originally signed a two-year deal with the club last offseason. If he does decide to buy himself out of his contract, Winborn would have to repay the $200,000 signing bonus he received in 2006 and would not earn the $200,000 roster bonus he's scheduled to receive in March. Additionally, Winborn's deal states he will have to decide 10 days prior to the start of free agency, March 2, to opt out of the deal.
