Bears | McClover a surprise contributor

Gene Chamberlain, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears have been very pleased with the performance of LB Darrell McClover, who was signed during the season as a special teams contributor and replacement for oft-injured LB Leon Joe (hamstring). ''He was a great pickup,'' special teams coach Dave Toub said. ''We played him that first game as soon as we got him. He was a little rusty, to be honest with you. Then we went back with Leon (Joe). Then he got hurt again. So that enabled Darrell to get back in there, and he has really come on and helped solidify things on kickoffs.'' McClover, who was originally drafted by the New York Jets in 2005, led or tied for the team lead in special-teams tackles three times in the seven games he played. He also helped in the victory against the Jets by pointing out a change in their personnel, which made the Bears wary of an onside kick on the kickoff to start the second half.
