Steelers | Team never finalized deal with Grimm
Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers team president Art Rooney II said Tuesday, Jan. 23, the team never finalized a deal with former assistant head coach and offensive line coach Russ Grimm to become the team's head coach, contrary to published reports, although both sides did discuss an offer. "Let me put it this way: We made Russ a finalist, and I think at that point we felt he was somebody we seriously were considering for the job," Rooney said. "I have a tremendous amount of respect for Russ and I do hope he gets a shot to be a head coach; I think he deserves it. I think it is fair to say he came close."
