Giants | Worrell retires
Andrew Baggarly, of the San Jose Mercury News, reports San Francisco Giants RP Tim Worrell has announced his retirement because of neck and shoulder issues. "I've come to grips with the fact my career is over," said Worrell. "I feel like I can't get myself back to that level of competition. Trying to play next year to hold on ... doesn't do the Giants any good. I don't want to end my career like that." The team will place Worrell on the voluntary retired list and he will be paid his $2 million salary this year. Worrell is looking to embark on a coaching career and general manager Brian Sabean said the team would open a door for him.
