Astros | Boston pitching coach jumps leagues
The Houston Chronicle's Brian McTaggart reports Boston Red Sox pitching coach Dave Wallace was hired by the Houston Astros as the replacement for Jim Hickey, who was fired after 2 1/2 seasons on the job. Wallace spent the past four seasons as pitching coach for the Red Sox, helping them win the World Series in 2004. "We're real excited," Astros general manager Tim Purpura said at the second day of baseball's GM meetings. "This is a guy we had pretty well targeted from the beginning as somebody who would be a strong consideration for us."
